I used to be one of those people who always compared myself to others. I looked at others and thought, she has nicer hair then me, I wish I had hair like hers or she is so popular and has so many friends, I wish I was more like her. But as I’ve got older, I have learnt to love myself more. I am now 33 and just starting to be comfortable as me and feeling happy.
Who cares if her hair is nicer than mine, I have long hair that some people would love to have. That’s seems to be something we always do, doesn’t? We look at someone and always want what they have. But sometimes, they are probably thinking the same thing as you. They wish they had what you’ve got.
It’s all about being confident and feeling happy in our own skin. And I think as we get older, we start to accept ourselves the way we are and love ourselves for that. Or it could just be because we just don’t have the time to think about silly things like that, when we are working all day, constantly cleaning the house and running around after our kids.
Here are a few of my tips to help you feel more confident
Wear clothes that make you feel good. Don’t wear things that are tight or too big, or buy something just because it’s in fashion. Wear clothes that you feel comfortable in and that make you happy. Knix has a great racerback bra that is really comfy but also makes you look and feel good. Or how about getting yourself a slogan t-shirt to remind yourself to stay positive
Before you leave the house spritz some of your favourite perfume on yourself. It’s amazing how certain smells can really lift your mood. I always get complements when I wear Rihanna’s Rogue perfume, which really boosts my confidence.
Stand up straight. It’s amazing how much having good posture can improve your mood and wellbeing. So every time you feel yourself slouching, pull in that tummy, put your shoulders back and head straight.
Surround yourself with positive quotes. I love a good quote and like to have them scattered around my house to lift me up. Weather it be a nice quote in a frame, on a notebook or even on your cup when you have your first cup of tea in the morning. That way you are starting the day on a positive.
