Life can be busy and hectic. We always seem have 100’s of things that need doing. Along with work, looking after the kids, cleaning, cooking and trying to tick things of our to-do list we don’t leave much time for ourselves. But looking after ourselves is important. We can’t give from our cup if it is empty, and we need to keep it topped up by filling it with things that make us happy and relaxed. And with our cup filled up there is plenty to give out to others who need it.

To fill you cup you don’t have to do big things, it’s just the small things that can fill your cup up quickly.

  • Go for a quick run
  • Do a craft
  • Go out for a coffee and slice of cake
  • Sit in the garden with a cup of tea
  • Do some adult colouring books
  • Have a little nap
  • Go for a short walk
  • Write in your journal
  • Do yoga
  • Treat yourself to a face mask
  • Turn your phone off
  • Read inspiring quotes
  • Look through old photos
  • Buy yourself a bunch of flowers
  • Make lists
  • Eat your favourite meal
  • Sit by a fire
  • Visit a museum
  • Get a massage
  • Listen to nature sounds
  • Have a pamper night
  • Paint your nails
  • Clear the sides
  • Fill a bag to donate
  • Do a jigsaw puzzle
  • Bake some cookies or muffins
  • Go for a swim
  • Browse pinterest
  • Light a candle
  • Eat a bit of chocolate

  • Lay on your bed and focus on your breathing

All of these ideas you can try out now. But if you are feeling really stressed or have a headache, etc, starting any of these can be a challenge. If this is the case take a pain-killer like Combogesic, which is paracetamol and ibuprofen combined. And then in just a few minutes they will get to work helping you to look after your self more quickly.

  1. There are some nice ideas on your list. I do love to take a long bath with bubbles, or go to the beach and read a book, to relax. I’m lucky to have the beach very close to my home.

  2. I work from home so if I’m in the office (and not cooking or baking) I like to take a short break each day and go for a walk come rain or shine. It brushes away the cobwebs and makes me feel more energised and motivated.

  3. Combogesic sounds like a handy pain-killer. I’m currently taking the maximum dose of both Ibuprofen and paracetamol as I recover from the trauma of surgery, so it’s good to know there’s a combo tablet out there if needed.

  4. I need more self care which is difficult to get when your partner works late and your child won’t go to sleep in their room. I keep asking for a break away but so far no luck I don’t get even get to read blogs without having to tell my youngest to stop climbing on me.

  5. Self care is really important especially for mothers. I think it’s something that we should all prioritize as well. These are all great ideas on how to take better care of yourself!

  6. Self-love and self-care are so important. I always taking care of my skin no matter what. and give time to my self.

  7. I think self-care is so important in today’s hectic lifestyle! My favourite way to relax and unwind is to have a little pamper session. It really does work wonders šŸ™‚

  8. Some great tips here. I always feel refreshed after a face mask and totally agree that getting fresh air, whether it be a short walk or sitting in the garden with a cuppa is great for the soul #Fortheloveofblog

  9. This is a fab list, and many of them are my go to’s when I need it. The key is we have to make time for ourselves, or we won’t be able to fully give to others. #thatfridaylinky xoxo

  10. Love these, I have literally just come in after 5 minutes sitting in the garden with a cuppa. Now I’m ready to work again, it really does work.
