Life Lately

Life has been very busy for me this year so far. Loads of things have happened over the last few months and I am starting to feel a little bit worn out. At the beginning of December I passed my driving test! Yeah! It was my third time, but like they say, It was 3rd time lucky. I am still getting to grips with it as I was a very nervous learner. I feel a lot more calm now I have passed, but I am just not very good at parking. And I had coming back home, as I live in a cul-de-sac and parking is terrible. Hopefully the council are going to extend the path outside our house to make a few more parking space.

Also in December was my youngest son’s 7th birthday. We didn’t do anything to celebrate, just had a little movie night at home and some yummy chocolate birthday cake. Christmas was nearly all last minute, as I had a few bills come in and at the same time was waiting of a few work payments. Luckily most came through just in time and I managed to get all my bills paid and present bought and wrapped about a week before the big day.

Christmas

I took 2 weeks off work for Christmas and it was really needed. Christmas was lovely and relaxed. We started two more new Christmas traditions. One was to get Christmas bedding for all of us and to have a family walk in the evening looking at everyone’s Christmas lights. The Christmas bedding we got was from JD Williams and we all have one each. A Snowman one for Caitlin, Aaron has a blue reindeer scandi themed one, me and Des has the same as Aaron but in red, and Ryan has got a red checked one. We all loved our Christmas presents, but my husband Des, was a little disappointed with one that I had got him. Just a few days before Christmas day he was hinting at me to get him a Mini Nintendo. I had already got his pressies and didn’t have any money for anymore, but then I noticed that one of his presents looked about the same shape, size and weight of a Mini Nintendo. I kept telling him it wasn’t what he thought it was and not to get his hopes up. He thought I was trying to trick him, but really I wasn’t. So he was just a little bit disappointed when he opened it to find a toastie maker!

A Sad Time

Also Christmas was a sad time, as my auntie was in hospital and was only given to Boxing day to live. She had bladder cancer, that she got rid of and was in remission, but just two weeks later, found out that it had spread to her spine. She passed away on the 29th December. She was only 49 but really brave and a true inspiration. Me and my auntie Mandy, shared the same birthday, which is on Monday 15th January. She would have been celebrating her 50th, so I wont really be doing much for my birthday this year. It is also her funeral the day after too.

Birthday Party

On a positive note, it is also my nephew’s 8th birthday on the Tuesday too. He had his birthday party today. We went to Lea Green and did some shelter building and lit a fire and the kids all had some toasted marshmallows. They all had a go on some go-karts and a play in the soft play area. It was a really fun day.

I think I will be doing more of these types of posts as it’s good to see what I have been up to and remind myself of the fun things we do as a family.
