I love going jigsaw puzzles. I always have since I was a child. I can remember my friends thinking I was a bit boring as I’d rather sit and either read or book or do a jigsaw than play on computer games. I thinking doing jigsaw puzzle can help you keep your brain working and help with logical problems.
I am 32 now, and since having my kids I have noticed that my memory isn’t what it used to be. I also have a borderline under active thyroid, that the doctors want yet treat as it isn’t over the treatment level. But this also has an impact on my memory and concentration. So by doing jigsaws is helping my brain keep more active and healthy.
One of my favourite animals is an owl, so when I saw this puzzle on Wentworth Puzzles I was instantly drawn to it. It has some really lovely bright colours in it too, that instantly cheers you up just looking at it.
The thing I love about Wentworth Puzzles is that the jigsaws are made out of wood and also come in a handy storage bag. Before I start a Wentworth puzzle I always put my nose in the bag and take a good sniff, as I love the smell of the wooden pieces.
But the best thing about Wentworth puzzles is the cute whimsy pieces! These are not like ordinary jigsaws, the pieces are all different shaped with gorgeous fun shaped pieces. This owl puzzle, called – It’s a Hoot! Has whimsy pieces in the shapes of different birds, including some owls.
I did this puzzle one afternoon with my 6-year-old Aaron. He help quite a bit and loved placing the whimsy shapes in place. This set has 250 pieces in total and took us around 1 and a half hours to complete.
And here is the finished puzzle! Can you spot the whimsy pieces?
