It may be the beginning of Autumn but I am already missing the sun. I loved lounging around in the garden catching the rays with a good book to read and a nice yummy drink. I made my own Pina Colada for the first time and it was delicious. I was sat there sipping it with my eyes closed imagining I was relaxing on a hidden tropical island beach. But just because the weather has turned colder doesn’t mean I have to stop enjoying my cocktails and having a daydream about being somewhere hot and exotic. So I have continued to bring the sunshine into my life and I have been enjoying making different cocktail in my kitchen with a bit of reggae music playing. My favourite was my Pina Colada and today I am sharing with you how to make the best homemade pina colada ever.
- 1 part White Rum
- 1 ½ parts Pineapple juice
- ½ part Coconut Cream
- Pineapple to garnish
Place the rum, pineapple juice and coconut cream into a cocktail shaker and give a good shake. Pour in to a high ball glass, and top p with more pineapple juice if needed. Add a piece of pineapple to the rim of the glass and some fancy straws and volia!
To make your pina colada amazing, it’s best to use a good quality rum. I used Aluna Coconut Rum from 31Dover. It is a lovely lighter flavour rum and natural sweet giving your cocktail the best taste ever. And has it has added coconut water it makes the best homemade Pina Coloda I have ever tried.
So forget the horrible whether outside and make yourself a tasty homemade pina colada and sit back and dream away those winter blues.
