My son was kindly sent out the Thomas & Friends TrackMaster Demolition at the Docks set to play with and review. Aaron (6) as always been a little boy who loves his cars and trains, so he was quite excited to try this Thomas & Friends train set. The track was a bit tricky for him to put together, so I did most of it, younger kids would need an adult to set the whole track up for them. The instructions to set the track up are easy to follow and each piece of track has a different number on so you know what is what piece.

Once up you can swing the cargo on Cranky to make it hit the warehouse and knock parts open, in which when Thomas goes around the track he will then ‘bump’ into the open parts. Thomas is motorised, so you can sit back and watch him go around the track.

The Thomas TrackMaster is suitable for children aged between 3-6 years so with Aaron being 6 he did get bored with this quite quickly. He wanted to make up his on track and didn’t want to have it the way it is supposed to go. But with limited track pieces he found this difficult. There are other sets you can buy along with more trains and extra track pieces.  I think just the basic track is great for younger children and then great to buy the add ons as they get older. Aaron as already asked my for more track and trains and he does really enjoy this but just limited to what he can do with just the basic track.

See Aaron in the video below having a little play.

  1. I had a few friends in primary school who were obsessed with Thomas the Tank Engine, they would have loved this if it was around when we were significantly younger. Just reading this post is making me smile at how much they loved that little train. Hopefully you’ll be able to get the add ons so Aaron will have more fun with it!
