I have been ill for what feels like forever now. I have had a headache, cough, runny nose, dizziness, fever, sweating, aches and pains all over my body for the last 2 weeks and it still doesn’t want to shift. So I haven’t really got much done, no blog work, no cleaning the house, no sorting my kitchen out ready to decorate it. Nothing. My husband has been taking care of the kids and making dinner, washing the pots. But he is not that good at hoovering, so there are still all little bits all over the carpet that has been slowly driving me mad.

So I have just been spending most of my days asleep in bed. But the times when I have been feeling ok to open my eyes, I have been watching my new Amazon Prime Video subscription. I was asked just before Christmas if I would like to try it out and see what I thought of it. We got rid of our Sky subscription about 2 years ago now, as we just couldn’t afford it. Me and my husband missed the movies and the sports channels the most. So we got a NOW TV box for the films but didn’t bother with the sports as it was still too expensive.

My eldest son, Ryan was excited to find out that we now have an Amazon Prime video subscription as he can now watch Walking Dead. He has been on about this programme for ages, as all his friends watch it. And we don’t get the channel is comes on, until now. He has watched all the current episodes on Amazon and can’t wait to watch the next season.

So while, I have been ill I have been watching some films and box sets that are only available on Amazon prime. I watched the film Before I Go to Sleep. I have read the book – see my review here, and I couldn’t wait to watch the film, so as soon as I saw this was on there, I just had to watch it. And I have found an amazing box set! It’s called The Following, it has Kevin Bacon in as a murder detective and he is trying to put a stop to a cult. It is absolutely brilliant! You much watch it. Another box set that I have added to my watch list is Preacher, which is an Amazon exclusive.

I am so glad that I have had the chance to try Amazon prime video has it has lot’s of great programmes. My favourite type of films to watch are horrors, and I have over 1,000 to choose from.

New programmes that have just been added are Just Add Magic and also Sneaky Pete, which is by Bryan Cranston, and is evocative of Breaking Bad. And also out on the 27th January are  Z: The Beginning of Everything and for the kids Ronja the Robbers Daughter.

  1. Saddened to read that you are unwell. Possibly a virus, I hope that you have consulted with your GP (General Practitioner) given that you have been feeling so unwell and lethargic. As well as being unwell for sometime. Nice that your husband is being supportive and helpful. Often men are not great when it comes to housework. Maybe he needs a little more practice. Or it may be that there is a partial blockage within your Hoover, as sometimes that reduces power or strength of suction. Therefore carpets not cleaned as well as they could be.

Lucky you getting to try out Amazon Prime. Do make the most of it. Television sometimes is our only company when feeling unwell. As can watch or browse depending on wakefulness – feelings of fatigue. For many older people it may be there only source of company, and or entertainment. There is such a range of TV programme providers, it can be difficult to know which supplier is most appropriate. I have heard many say that Sky is very expensive. It may well be out of the price range of many. I am interested to find out what you think of Amazon Prime given time and opportunity to consider your overall experience of package provided.
