Love of Reading

I have always loved reading books and I have always encouraged my kids to do the same. My eldest son Ryan, used to love books when he was little, but now he is 11 it can be difficult to get him to read. He will only read certain types of books like Dairy of a Wimpy Kid or Timmy Failure. And I have done everything I can to help encourage him to read more. Aaron likes bed time story’s, he loves me to read to him as he is still learning most words. Caitlin on the other hand as just turn 7 and she is now reading chapter books. Her favourites are ones about princesses or fairy’s, and she is often reading  anew book every few days

Scholastic Book Fairs

The primary school that my youngest two go to often hold Scholastic book fairs. I often help out selling the books and they come roughly every term. And I always by my kids at least one book each, even Ryan. The good thing about Scholastic is that they give back the school 20% of free books back to the school! Even if you order through their website and have the order delivered to your house, you can still nominate a school or nursery of your choice to receive free books.

The #GiveABook Campaign

Scholastic are running a #GiveABook Campaign to inspire more people to give books as presents this Christmas. They are giving away £50 worth of boys to the winners chosen school or nursery. To win these all you have to do is go to their Facebook page or Twitter and let them know which book you would choose to give a child this Christmas with the hashtag #GiveABook. Take a look at their Christmas Gift Guide for more inspiration. The competition ends on the 16th December, so hurry to get your entry in.

The Books I will Give

I was given these 3 books for my kids to read. And all three are just perfect for them! The Tom gates series of book are written in the same format of Dairy of a Wimpy Kids, so Ryan will love this. White Books is about an ice skater and I am sure she will enjoy reading this. Sproutzilla vs. Christmas is a perfect choice for Aaron as he loves story books like this and this one is about a mean brussel sprout, while Aaron will find hilarious.
