Blurb from book

Girls on Fire tells the story of Hannah and Lacey and their obsessive teenage female friendship so passionately violent it bloodies the very sunset its protagonists insist on riding into, together, at any cost. Opening with a suicide whose aftermath brings good girl Hannah together with the town’s bad girl, Lacey, the two bring their combined wills to bear on the community in which they live; unconcerned by the mounting discomfort that their lust for chaos and rebellion causes the inhabitants of their parochial small town, they think they are invulnerable.

But Lacey has a secret, about life before her better half, and it’s a secret that will change everything…

My Review

when I first string reading this book I thought it was supposed to be young adult book, but it is very dark covers subjects like suicide, Satanism, drink, drugs and sex.

I found the book hard to get into at first and didn’t like that the chapters where quite long. I read this on my kindle and it tells me roughly how long a chapter is going to take me to read. I was a bit downhearted when I saw that one chapter was supposed to take me 1 hour and 16 minutes to her through, especially when I like to read a chapter or two before bed to help me sleep.

The book starts of with the suicide of Chris, of one of the poplar boys in the school and then goes on to show how ‘bad girl’ Lacey and ‘good girl’ Hannah become friends and their very close relationship. But then Lacey disappears leaving Hannah when she needs her the most. She becomes friends with Nikki, Chris’s ex girlfriend. But when Lacey comes back, Lacey and Nikki aren’t happy and try to make Hannah turn against each other.

I can’t really say too much without giving things away. But though the book was slow to start and I did feel it was dragging in places, I just couldn’t but this book down. I just wanted to find out everyone’s secrets and how it was going to end. The last part of the book was really good.
