The Project MC2 is a show that aired last year on Netflix. It is aimed at pre-teens and it is about 4 friends that all love science. They dolls have just come out and each one comes with it’s very own science experiment. They are priced at £24.99 or you can also get the dolls without experiments and different clothing for £14.99.

The four dolls each have their own unique style and personality.

The dolls are:

McKeyla McAlister (Mc2)

  • Writer, hipster and undercover spy! When McKeyla isn’t writing in her journal, you’ll find her reading a Sir Arthur Conan Doyle novel, upcycling or saving the world! Her catch phrase is “I’m smart. Get over it!”

Adrienne Attoms (A2)

  • Made of a more complex recipe than sugar and spice. Adrienne is a culinary chemist! Originally from Spain (her father is a diplomat), she just loves to host dinner parties. Her catch phrase is “Pretty Brilliant”

Bryden Bandweth (B2)

  • Bryden loves tweeting, digital photography, streaming music and anything tech! Just don’t ask her to go camping in the wilderness or anywhere without a hotspot! She’s a 24/7 #digitaldarling. Her catch phrase? “Stand Back, I’m Trending”

Camryn Coyle (C2)

  • Known for her high IQ, Camryn’s real genius comes out in the garage – especially when it comes to her souped up skateboard! Her catch phrase is “Nailed It”

We received Bryden, which comes with a ‘make your own’ light up bracelet.

The doll comes with leggings, hoody, green rain jacket, cat hat/mask, funny glasses, shoes and a cat headband.

Caitlin couldn’t wait for me to take the doll out of the box. She was more interested in the doll itself than the bracelet experiment.

The dolls clothes are of really good quality and so is the hair. The only thing I didn’t like about the doll was the body. The legs came of really easy and had a small piece of plastic that could easily brake. But you have to pull the legs off at the knees in order to get the leggings off. The thing I didn’t like the most about the doll was that it had boobs. Now I know most ‘Barbie’ dolls have boobs, but these dolls are based on really children. The children in the Netflix show are about 12 years old. And surely their boobs are not that big. If the doll is based on a 12 year old girl, in my option, should look like a 12 year old girl.

Anyway, rant over. Caitlin didn’t even notices her boobs, so I am properly over reacting. But besides that, the doll is really nice and Caitlin loves it. My favourite part where the cute teddy shoes

The experiment that came with the doll was a bracelet that you fill with water and when you wear it, it lights up different colours. Caitlin liked that it lit up, but didn’t like wearing the bracelet as it was hard to get on and off and she said it hurt her.

  1. My favourite science experiment is changing the colour of white carnations by adding food colouring to the water in the vase! You can have blue, pink, red, green, purple…..the choice is yours!

  2. My daughter loves the show! I love the science experiment where you can add bicarb of soda with red food dye and make a volcano!!

  3. I generally watch with my two niece’s. They love it & they would love the dolls. My favourite science experiment is making Epsom salt crystals

    • My favourite science experiment usually involved a bunsen burner and anything that made everyone else jump especially the teacher

  4. I like the Blowing Up a Balloon using Yeast experiment. All you needed was yeast, water and sugar in bottle and a balloon to attach to the neck of a plastic bottle. Then watch the balloon slowly inflate.

  5. Use baking soda and vinegar to create an awesome chemical reaction! Watch as it rapidly fizzes over the container and make sure you’ve got some towels ready to clean up.

Place some baking soda in a container
    Pour in some vinegar
Watch as the reaction takes place!

  6. I’ve not seen this show either but the dolls look cool..prob my daughter would love when she was a bit older. Got to love a bit of science too! Thanks for sharing with #bestandworst x

  7. These dolls are great. I love that they come with accessories that match their personalities. I like that the characters are interested in science, math and tech.

  8. I agree with you about the doll needing to look age appropriate. I wish they would adhere to that soon. It’s a little hard to explain if a 10 year old ask why they do not have it yet.

  9. I have watched the show with my Grandaughter. She loves science so these dolls are perfect for her.

  10. my favourite sciene experiments are
    1) making a potato powerwd clock
    2) charging a balloon with static electricity so you can make your hair stand on end or sticking the balloon on the by gently rubbing it.

  11. I don’t have Netflix, so no, we’ve not seen it. My favourite experiment is the mentos and bottle of cola trick!

  12. I don’t have Netflix but I loved the exploding science experiments at school and also those wonderful little boxed science kits that made things grow in water. Great fun!

  13. I watched the first episode or two before we ended our Netflix. It’s a bit old for my daughter and a bit young for me (especially the geeking out over the prince). But I do like the idea of this show encouraging science in an entertaining way.
