Are you a working mum? Do you find it hard to find a balance between work and spending time with your kids? Lizz Akin’s has written a book called ‘For Busy mums : how to launch a Successful business‘ to help mums, leave their 9-5 job that is taking up all their time, and not given enough to their children and start up their own business. Work your own hours, have a day off when your child is sick or you need to go and watch them in a play at school etc, while still earning money.

This video below, shows how a little boy called James feels about his mum working full time.

‘Lizz Akin wrote this book because after growing up in a situation very similar to James, she promised to do her best ensure her own children didn’t grow up missing their mother. After setting up her own business and becoming a parent, friends and family frequently asked how they too can start a business whilst raising their own children. Lizz decided to embark on a mission to write a guide book for other mothers on how they too can set up their own business, be financially free and be there whenever their children need them there.’

The first thing I thought when I watched this video, was that I was glad that was not my son. Lizz conducted a survey and found out that 9 out of 10 children wanted to spend more time with their parents. I am so lucky that my full time job is this blog and also selling on etsy. As I am self-employed and can choose when I work. If I have to have time off, then I can do it at the drop of a hat. I don’t have to worry about being late for work, or asking for time off when my kids are sick. I am my own boss and I can do what I want, when I want. My kids are always having things going of at school and it’s nice to be able to attend. Like just the other week, My 5 year old daughter’s class did some baking, making gingerbread men and parents were invited along to help them. Caitlin, my little girl loved it, she loved it even more me being there. But there was about 4 children who’s parents couldn’t attend as they were at work and couldn’t get the time off. I felt sorry for these kids, who looked a little lost with all the other kids parents there. But I completely understand why the children’s parents couldn’t be there.

But if you are like me and don’t want to be tied down to a job that isn’t flexible with having time off, you should think about launching your own business.
