Make Money Blogging

When I first started this blog almost 2 years ago, It was just a place for me to share things that I found on the internet and help inspire me to get crafty and share my crafts with anyone who was willing to take a look. Which was maybe just one or two people and those mainly being my family. I knew nothing about blogging, it was a whole new world for me. But the more I blogged (is that even a word?) the more I fell in love with it. At the time I wasn’t working as I was on the sick due to depression and a social phobia, but blogging opened my eyes to possibilities. I saw other bloggers who did this as a job!! Perfect! I thought. I could do this, this would be my perfect job. So, I put all my effort in to blogging and overcoming my illnesses at the same time. I knew it would take a while until I could start to call blogging a job, has most bloggers I spoke to told me it takes at least a year to start making any kind of money. For me this was true, But I have known others do it a lot sooner.

Now almost two years later I am now off the sick, I still have my depression, but it’s under control. And now Serenity You isn’t my only job. I sell things on ebay via my ebay shop Lucky8 and I also sell a few handmade items in my Etsy shop. I have also just started a new blog Kidz Patch. I do all this from the comfort of my own home with my two youngest right beside me. Perfect. From this year I have finally started to call my blog Serenity You my Job!
First I want to thank all my readers for making my perfect job possible, as without you this would not be possible. So a big Thank you. And I also want to share with you the ways in which I make money blogging. It’s not easy starting off and you have to put a lot of work into it. At the moment I work over 40 hours a week! but I’m still only earning less than ยฃ100 a week. But I am hoping to change that this year and double that figure by the end of August.
One of the main ways I earn money blogging is with Ad Sense. All you have to do is place Ads on your blog and you get money for every page view and more for a click. I always get loads of views around Christmas time, but soon as the New year comes the stats go right down low. But don’t feel disheartened by this, as if you carry on doing what you are doing and gaining more followers next November/December time the stats will be even higher
The next biggest earner I would say is Social Spark. Just fill in your blog details and advertisers will contact you with an opportunity to write a blog post for them and they pay you in points. When you reach a certain number of points you can convert that to money and have it sent straight to your paypal account.
Set Your Price. Choose your Advertisers. Sign up for SocialSpark!

Then there is my sponsors. Right there on my sidebar. I offer a few different options and my prices range from $3 up to $12. Obviously you have to base your prices on how much traffic you get to your site. No one is going to pay ยฃ12 for an Ad if your only getting 300 visits a month. Base your ad prices on the amount of traffic you get. And as your blog grows so can your prices. If you have no idea what to price your ads at, take a look at other blogs advertising price’s and compare them to their monthly views or followers. Here are my ad prices and stats. I use Passionfruit Ads to host mine, and they are brilliant. They do all the hard work for you, you just have to pay them $1 for each ad sold. But it takes out all the stress of trying to code the ads and making sure you put them up and take them down on time

A new site I have just signed up with is Viraliti. I have only been with them 2 weeks and so far I have made $0.52 , But Viraliti is very very new. This one is a bit different, as you don’t need a blog to sign up. You need to have a Pinterest account. And you simply pin the ads you choose and when someone clicks on this pin in your pinterest board, you get paid for that click. So far, so good. I have only pinned a couple, some ads I don’t like at all, so i just don’t pin them. As I don’t want loads of rubbish clogging up my pinterest boards. But it’s worth a try, as it’s really new so should get better
another simular one I have only just signed up for so I can’t really tell you much about them is Sponsored Tweets. You get paid to simply tweet. Again you don’t have to be a blogger, just have a twitter account

SponsoredTweets referral badge

Other great sites to sign up to are The Sits Girls and The Clever Girls Collective . They have blogger opportunity’s to either write sponsored posts, do reviews and other things too. At the moment I have only been selected to write a post for the The Clever Girls Collective but they compensate you really well.

There are also things like being an affiliate for a company. I am an affiliate for , Google and My Memory Suite. I haven’t put much effort in at all with these yet, So I can’t really say how good they are.

One more thing I do is I offer guest posts. This is free for other bloggers as I love to help out other blogs big and small. But for companys and brands I charge ยฃ8 per a post. I only accept guest post if their family friendly and if I think my readers would be interested in reading them. If your interested in guest posting on Serenity You please email me at serenityyou (at) hotmail (dot)

I hope this post has helped those out there looking to build your blog. If you have less than 200 followers I have a 200 club where I highlight one of your posts every month and place your button on the bottom of my right side bar

If your a new blogger, then look out for my new A-Z blogger series coming very soon. Helping you with all you need to know about starting a blog
